THE MEETING POINT

This August, ARTNOIR and REGULARNORMAL kick off From A Place, Of A Place with “The Meeting Point,” a large-scale curatorial project featuring work from emerging artists of color. The exhibition will use artistic expression to invite the community to the Meatpacking District and create an experience of connection, unity, liberation, and imagination.

 We are honored to welcome emerging Black artists in NYC to be part of the program. From June 14-June 24, 2021 we will be hosting an OPEN CALL for submissions, inviting four artists to be featured in our gallery showcase and two artists to join our inaugural Artist in Residency Program at 2 Gansevoort (previously White Columns gallery).

PROCESS

ARTNOIR and REGULARNORMAL’s curatorial practice is rooted in diversity of voice and access in the arts, namely around race, gender, and sexuality. They continue to create and design transformative spaces and exhibitions that reflect communities that shape and influence cultural legacy.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 This curated and juried show will be a unique and profound opportunity to be featured alongside NYC elite emerging artists in the Meatpacking District and sold in a public exhibition. 

This exhibit will showcase art that is conceptually thoughtful, skilled and representative of the energy and spirit of community, futurism, and liberation.

 
 
 
 

 CRITERIA


 
 
 
 
 

 Open to all Black artists residing in the 5 Boroughs of NYC or past residents of the Meatpacking District. Must be able to meet in person or virtually during the month of July and August in part of a 1:1 community building practice between the featured artists.

REQUIREMENTS: 
Submit up to 4 images of current work.

Each proposal will be reviewed and selected by an esteemed Committee of Peers made up of interdisciplinary leaders in academia, culture creation, and the arts to determine the 4 artists to be featured in the gallery.

 SPECIFICATIONS

 
 
 
 
 

All work must be original, unsold work, & the artist must own the sole copyright to art. Frames, mats & wiring must be professional quality & in good condition. No saw-tooth hangers. Wiring must be securely fashioned & support the weight of the artwork. All accepted work must remain for the duration of the exhibit. 2D Artwork selected for exhibition MUST BE READY TO HANG. Unframed or improperly mounted work will not be accepted. The number of pieces varies depending on the artist’s medium, sizes and shapes of selected work and available wall space. Every artist will be able to exhibit a sizeable body of work so that they are well represented in the exhibition. The number of pieces can vary considerably.

All art will be for sale with 50% going to the artists.

RESIDENCY

ARTNOIR is welcoming applications for our 2021 residency which will focus on future visioning, liberation, imagination and borders. The duration of the residency is 5 weeks.

ARTNOIR’s 2021 Residency invites two artists into their 2 Gansevoort gallery location to create works that inspire communities and future visioning. Each selected artist will receive a $2500 grant and $2000 material stipend for the 5 week residency.
